Ginger - a "super-food"

Ginger is actually one of the very few “superfoods” worthy of that term. There are too many benefits to list them all so I have written about the top four.

Helps Fight Infection

The bioactive substance in ginger is gingerol which lowers the risk of infections. It also helps to inhibit the growth of many different types of bacteria.

Improves Brain Function

Studies have shown that stress and inflammation can accelerate the aging process. If ingested regularly, ginger can enhance brain function and inhibit inflammatory responses that occur in the brain which will, in turn, reduce age-related cognitive decline.

Lowers Cholesterol

Ginger helps to lower levels of LDL (bad cholesterol) and blood triglycerides.

Anti-Inflammatory Properties

People who eat ginger regular have less pain associated with osteoarthritis. Ginger helps to reduce swelling in the body and increases bone health. It also helps with muscle pain. Although the effects of ginger does not have an immediate impact, taking it regularly helps to reduce inflammation and lessen pain over time.

Try a glass of ginger tea tonight. Delicious and good for you! Don't forget to eat your superfoods.
